A thoughtfully renovated family-friendly home—just 15 minutes from Hudson, NY and 2.5 hours from New York City.

3 or 7 NIGHT STAYS. Calendar Is Open!

Welcome to the Mae House, a mass-transit accessible 173-year-old colonial-style home in the quiet Village of Athens. Inside, the three-bedroom, four-bed, three full bath living space has been thoughtfully renovated with sustainability in mind, including tile work by Fire Clay Tile (a B-corporation), efficient sinks, and toilets from Kohler, and an expert-selected collection of Farrow & Ball paints. Intentionality supersedes the materials, and each room is also carefully curated with hand-picked vintage items meant for the utmost comfort and style. It is one of only two houses on a street, tucked into one of the largest land spaces in the village. The secluded space on a spacious five-lot property makes more for outdoor living, a robust garden bed, private parking, and a sense of calm.

You can pick from the garden, play in the yard, sit by the fire—rest.

But more than only a peaceful, aesthetic experience, The Mae House was built for an expanding community. The price of your stay gives us the opportunity to offer sliding scale rates to BIPOC guests who can not afford a full-priced stay and aides in maintaining the property for a free quarterly residency program for BIPOC. This residency performs like generations of mutual aid in the past. It does not provide programming and is not affiliated with a non-profit. We provide a nurturing place for BIPOC to connect with nature free of charge. They are only required to simply, rest.

The proceeds The Mae House would receive as a retailer will be donated to Sweet Freedom Farm, a local farm that focuses on growing and distributing vegetables, grain, herbs, medicines, and maple syrup to our community, prioritizing folks affected by the incarceration system. They also act as a training site for young BIPOC farmers, a gathering space for partnering projects in the alliance, and as a host site for youth in alternative-to-incarceration programs.

“We are showered every day with gifts, but they are not meant for us to keep.

Their life is in their movement, the inhale and the exhale of our shared breath. Our work and our joy is to pass along the gift and to trust that what we put out into the universe will always come back.”
